What to Do After a Car Accident

Being in a car accident can be overwhelming — but staying calm and knowing what steps to take can make a huge difference. Here’s a quick guide to help you through it.

1. Check for Injuries

Make sure you and anyone else involved are safe. Call 911 right away if there are injuries or if you're unsure.

2. Get to Safety

If the vehicles are drivable and it’s safe to do so, move to the side of the road or a safe area to avoid further danger.

3. Call the Police

Even for minor accidents, it’s smart to file a police report. It helps with insurance and provides an official record of the incident.

4. Exchange Information

Gather the following from all parties involved:

  • Name and contact info

  • Driver’s license number

  • License plate number

  • Insurance company and policy number

  • Make, model, and color of vehicles involved

5. Document the Scene

Use your phone to take photos of:

  • All vehicles (damage and overall placement)

  • License plates

  • The surrounding area (street signs, traffic lights, skid marks, etc.)

  • Any visible injuries

6. Avoid Admitting Fault

Stick to the facts when speaking with the other driver or the police. Let the insurance companies determine fault.

7. File a Claim

Contact your insurance provider as soon as possible to begin the claims process. Provide all the information and photos you collected.

8. Contact Bianchi Autobody

Once the claim is underway, give us a call. We’ll work directly with your insurance company and get your vehicle back on the road — repaired, restored, and looking great.
